The Official Reindeer Games Training Manual

Welcome, humans! Your mission is to train like Santa's best reindeer crew. These four challenges test speed, aim, and teamwork—essential skills for leading the sleigh!

1. Antler Ring Toss

Test your aim! See if you can land rings on a pair of makeshift antlers.

🦌 Supplies:

  • Antlers: Two paper headbands or two empty kitchen paper towel rolls taped to a child's head or a standing object (like a cone or small water bottle).

  • Rings: Paper plates with the centers cut out, pipe cleaners twisted into circles, or soft, small bean bags.

  • A "Toss Line": A piece of tape on the floor where players must stand.

🦌 How to Play:

  1. One person wears the "antlers" or stands near the antler target.

  2. Players stand behind the Toss Line (start close for young children).

  3. Each player gets five rings and tries to toss them onto the antlers.

  4. The player who successfully lands the most rings wins!

2. Reindeer Feed Scoop Race

This game tests precision and speed, simulating how fast reindeer need to eat before takeoff!

🦌 Supplies:

  • "Reindeer Feed": A big bowl filled with small, dry cereal (like Cheerios or Rice Krispies) or dry rice.

  • Spoons: One large spoon for each player (or a small scoop).

  • Empty Mugs or Cups: One empty cup for each player.

  • Timer.

🦌 How to Play:

  1. Place the main bowl of "Reindeer Feed" on one side of a table.

  2. Place the empty mugs/cups on the other side of the table (or about 5 feet away on the floor).

  3. Players take turns using the spoon to scoop the feed and quickly transfer it to their empty cup.

  4. Set a timer for 60 seconds. When time is up, the player whose cup has the most feed wins! (Optional: If playing alone, see how fast you can fill your cup!)

3. The "Sleigh Ride" Relay

A silly, active game that encourages teamwork and control, just like pulling a sleigh.

🦌 Supplies:

  • A pillow, small beanbag, or stuffed animal (the "gift").

  • Open space for running a short course (around a chair and back is perfect).

🦌 How to Play:

  1. Mark a start line and a turn-around point.

  2. Players must place the "gift" between their knees and hold it there without using their hands.

  3. Players race from the start line to the turn-around point and back without dropping the gift.

  4. If the gift drops, the player must stop, pick it up (using their hands is allowed here), place it back between their knees, and continue.

  5. If playing as a team, the first player tags the next player in line after they complete the round.

4. Pin the Red Nose on Rudolph

A classic party game with a reindeer twist!

🦌 Supplies:

  • Poster: A simple drawing or large printout of a reindeer face without a nose.

  • Red Noses: Cut out circles of red construction paper or use a sticky note.

  • Tape or Glue Stick: To attach the nose.

  • Blindfold.

🦌 How to Play:

  1. Tape the reindeer poster securely to a wall at a child-friendly height.

  2. Blindfold the first player.

  3. Gently spin the player around two times.

  4. Hand the player a red nose (with the tape/glue ready) and guide them toward the poster.

  5. The player tries to pin the nose as close to the correct spot as possible.

  6. Mark the location where they placed the nose with their initial. The player who gets closest wins!

5. Reindeer Freeze Dance (Stop & Go)

Reindeer need excellent listening skills to stop when Santa calls! This tests focus and quick reactions.

🦌 Supplies:

  • Music player with festive holiday music.

🦌 How to Play:

  1. Start the music. All players gallop, skip, or dance like excited reindeer.

  2. When the music stops, all players must freeze instantly like statues.

  3. If a player moves, they are out or must do a silly reindeer exercise (like three big stomps).

  4. The last reindeer dancing wins!

6. Follow the Jingle (Bell Hunt)

A sensory game to train the reindeer's amazing sense of sound!

🦌 Supplies:

  • Several Jingle Bells (taped securely to small items so they don't get lost).

  • Blindfold (optional, for advanced players).

🦌 How to Play:

  1. Have the children close their eyes while one adult gently hides the bells in a few different places around the room. Tip: The bells should be hidden just well enough that they can still be heard if they are moved or shaken.

  2. When ready, tell the players, "Go find the sound of the sleigh!"

  3. Players must listen carefully and follow the faint jingling sound to find the bells.

  4. The player who finds the most bells wins!
